The car has been designed on the feedback received from the Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team that competes in World Rally Championship (WRC) and other non- Toyota professional drivers.

Japanese car manufacturer Toyota on Tuesday announced its full line-up for the new GR Yaris to go on sales in Japan.

The new line-up includes RZ, RS and competition-oriented RC, with sales scheduled to commence around September 2020.

The RZ variant comes with a newly developed high-power, compact, and lightweight 1.6-liter inline three-cylinder direct-injection turbo engine. The engine comes mated to a 4WD system with variable front and rear driving force system and a 6-speed manual transmission.

RSA model comes with 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder dynamic force engine and an addition of a launch gear the enables the direct shift-CVT.

RC model features the same 1.6-liter inline three-cylinder direct-injection turbo engine, with a 4WD system, and 6-speed manual transmission .

The new RS comes with an aluminium hood, back door, door panels and upper body. The car also sports carbon fibre-reinforced plastic roof.

Pre-orders are currently being accepted online for both the RZ "High-performance First Edition" and the RZ "First Edition" models until June 30 in Japan.
